If you consider travelling a way to educate yourself and you choose to visit Rome, the first thing to do is to understand as quickly as possible this is a city that never ends.
It doesn’t end after a visit to the Colosseum, the Vatican Museums, the Trevi fountain and not even at the end of a tour you have booked.
Aside from museums and sites which charge admission, you will discover, in fact, that the city continues all around you, beauty after beauty, for free, brazenly, and start to feel a racy, growing pleasure, a strong emotion that you can hardly imagine if you have never been here.
Rome is a height, a fall, an ecstasy, a restlessness. Overflowing from any definition. It would be a huge waste visiting this city in sections! You should try to feel it on you, to drop into its beauty like a tea bag in boiling water and then your knowledge of the city can really begin. Let Rome enrich you with a new vision of the world and of yourself! After all, we travel to know better who we are.
Wherever you go, from the restaurant to the bus stop, everywhere around you, below you, above you, you will always find an architecture, a wall, a statue, a dome, a witness of the past, of the ones who have been walking through these alleys before you. In Rome, history is alive and creates a link with the present. You can feel it on you. This site has never been abandoned. The first evidence of life dates back to about 15,000 years ago. And today, writing these words during quarantine, I can feel standing next to me all the generations that have lived in this city and it makes me stronger. I know I'm not alone. I know that outside my window there is the dome of the Pantheon, the house where my grandfather was born, my husband's shop, Piazza Navona, the Tiber, the roots of the western civilization.
That’s why I would like to invite you to visit not only the highlights but also to know us, to discover the alleys, the walls, the courtyards behind closed doors (no roman will stop you!) And before we start to walk together, I also invite you to keep in mind two very important words that will help you enormously in understanding this city: stratification and recycling. Because where we put our feet now is only the present moment, the current level of the long history of Rome. Enjoy!
